The Berkshire Vet describes itself as an independent veterinary clinic with hospitalisation facilities, offering routine care, surgery and a 24/7 emergency service (as stated on its website). Reviews repeatedly mention a “meet and greet”/familiarisation approach for anxious pets, including taking appointments slowly with treats and lick mats, and also describe urgent problem-solving such as mild sedation to remove a fish hook and treatment for a cat’s upper respiratory tract disease that had spread to the sinuses. Several reviewers also highlight help with insurance claims and say the practice is transparent on pricing (without quoting specific fees).
5.0 stars from 187 reviews. - Independent practice mentioned repeatedly, with some owners choosing it specifically for that reason and describing pricing as transparent (no prices quoted).

Always so professional and very caring towards my dogs, as well as any foster dogs we have had. Advice is always solid and no upselling at all! Great to have an independent vet to go to....

Having used the Berkshire Vet several times, I was impressed by the care they took of our dog, Roddy, and the consultation fee. Our previous vet was constantly trying to upsell, which grew a bit tedious. At the Berkshire Vet, they actively tried to save us money on things like vaccinations and were focused solely on our dog's wellbeing. I haven't experienced this kind of service from a vet in more than 15 years. It's nice that the vets and veterinary nurses feel able to concentrate on what they are trained to do, rather than being over "commercial". All the staff there are friendly and helpful, from the front desk team to the vets and nurses. I would recommend them.

Absolutely blessed to have found this amazing team. We were treated with kindness and compassion by everyone we met. The care offered to Minnie was the best she could have had. We were given explanations and time to discuss Minnie’s care. Special thanks to Naomi, Katie, Tracey and Aaron. Words cannot convey our gratitude. Thank yo

Wow! A team of brilliantly knowledgeable and experienced vets who warmly welcomed me and my dogs into their practice. They definitely put my dog's health and wellbeing as the top priority in choosing and implementing a treatment regime. They listened to me intently and answered all of my questions knowledgeably and without judgment. Every member of the team was friendly, warm and very obviously a huge animal lover whilst also dealing with me professionally and kindly. The facilities are second to none, huge, airy spaces that are well equipped with modern technology and resources. My dog's normally tremble with anxiety at the vets, but not here. They were relaxed and confident throughout. I cannot recommend Berkshire Vets highly enough.

Things that are absolutely priceless include a vet who loves and cares for your non-human family members as much as you do, even when you're facing the worst possible day. The team at The Berkshire Vet definitely do that, and more. I absolutely know, and trust, my cats and dog with them, which is a good thing because my dog's third favourite person is his vet (after me and his dog walker). I love and trust that because they're an independent practice they're transparent on pricing, exceptional value and put all that back into the treatment of the animals in their care. And I say this as someone who not only lives in another county, bypasses at least 3 closer vet practices, and drives 35 minutes for appointments, they're worth it.

This is what i am looking for in a vet Well I do not want to be writing a book, but October came back from holiday to find our 8 month old kitten really sick ,after 4 weeks and 3 visits to registered vets at the time he was getting worse, I had to change vets The Berkshire vet in Crookham Aaron did not take long to diagnose URTD Upper respiratory tract disease,it is almost impossible to completely rid a cat from this infection, they no sooner get better and it gets the better of them again,by last Sunday morning Charlie was so sick this was the second day of no eating,I was feeding him water by dropper, the whole one side of his face was swollen,I thought it was an allergy, hurt himself playing eaten a plant, but no Aaron immediately said his URTD had gone to his sinuses,Aaron administered injections and Gave us antibiotics and by Wednesday he was back to his old self. That's all any of us are looking for a vet that knows what he's doing and fixes our pets quickly And he helps me with the insurance claims!! Good old fashioned veterinary care what more can you ask Thankyou Aaron and to all at the Berkshire vets

My rescue Cocker Spaniel has always been dreadful at the vet I had been using since we adopted her 5 years ago. She got so stressed and anxious and was like a Tasmanian Devil and had to be muzzled. In desperation, I decided to change vets after someone recommended me The Berkshire Vet. I took her up there on familiarisation visits, she got lots of attention and treats and then I took her up to meet a vet today and possibly have her annual vaccination if all went well. It did indeed go well! The receptionists were friendly and petted her, we then met Vicky James the Vet and Vicky took it slow, gave her lots of treats and examined her eyes, ears and listened to her heart. Then out came the liver paste and a lick mat……she was so focussed on licking up every morsel that Vicky gave her the injection and although she paused mid lick to register what Vicky was doing, the liver paste was far more interesting and she carried on devouring it! This has been the least stressful vet appointment that we have had in over 5 years. I cannot thank The Berkshire Vet enough. Such a difference in approach and not a problem to take the time to let her get to know the vet and realise that she was a good person 🙂.It cost Vicky several gravy bones and some liver paste but it was so worth it! I highly recommend The Berkshire Vet and if you are having issues with your current vet, I strongly recommend you give them a try. Lovely people, kind, understanding and absolutely no rush. They understand your dog and are happy to give them time to relax. A solid 5 🌟review from me & my dog🐶 - so well deserved!
